The Animal of the Week is...
Three-Toed Amphiuma

Distribution: They range from western Alabama to eastern Texas and north through the Mississippi Valley to the southeastern portion of Missouri

Habitat: lakes, marshes, sluggish streams etc.

Food: earthworms, fish, crayfish, molluscs, insects, snakes, tadpoles, frogs and other amphiumas

Size, Body length: Over a metre long!

Breeding: Breeding occurs underwater in winter/spring. The female amphiuma usually lays up to 200 eggs.

Status: Around common-vulnerable.

What type of animal is a Three-Toed Amphiuma?

the three-toed Amphiuma is a species of aquatic salamander native to the southeastern United States. The three-toed amphiuma looks rather eel-like they are capable of growing to lengths of 41 inches (1 m). They have small, lidless eyes, and gill slits.

it's sad because most people reckon that tha hands meetings are really boring, thats sad i rekon its fun but there is no cheese :(

also i found that Amphiuma are: nocturnal carnivores. They spend most of the time hiding in heavily vegetated areas of permanent bodies of slow moving water, such as swamps, ponds and lakes.

the live in eastern Texas, southeastern Oklahoma, southeastern Missouri, and southwestern Alabama.
They like to live in, lakes,swaps, ditches and sluggish streams.
They mainly feed on crayfish, but eat other water creatures.
Adults can be as long as 3 inches

Um are we even doing hands and paws anymore? Cause no offence but we haven't even done one fundraiser to save animals which was the whole point of hands and paws. Wasn't it?
